Born in 1958 in Dijon.
Studied with his father Marcel CAENS and Maurice ANDRE at the CNSM in Paris. He was trumpet soloist in the Lyon Orchestra and cornet soloist in the Paris Opera.
After creating the “Concert Arban” until 1989 he founded the “CUIVRES FRANÇAIS” and plays in trio with André CAZALET, horn and Michel BECQUET, trombone.
Since 1985, he has been a trumpet teacher at the CRR in Dijon and since 2003 at the CNSM in Lyon.
He plays for the cinema (soundtrack of the film Cyrano by BERGERAC with J.C. PETIT), the song (William SHELLER) and multiplies the meetings with musicians from different horizons (J. J. MOSALINI, G. BEYTELMANN, M. BEYTELMANN, M. DOVECOTE, J. FERRAT, STING , B. FONTAINE, G. OPPITZ, N. FREIRE , J GUILLOU, R. GALLIANO, R. AUBRY, H. AGNEL, M. SOLAL, P. CARATINI…)
Since 1997, he contributes to the elaboration of the B&S trumpets (Germany) for BUFFET CRAMPON of which he is the international artist.
In April 2006, he published the CD ” 3ème Souffle ” recorded with the National Orchestra of Lyon (dir. Michel PLASSON) with three works written for him by W. SHELLER, R. GALLIANO and M.COLOMBIER. In 2015, the work of P. CARATINI will be added for re-release on the Indesens label.
In July 2011 he is appointed as “Chevalier des Arts et Lettres” by the Minister of Culture and in September 2013 as “Cultural Ambassador of the City of Dijon, in connection with the City of Gastronomy and Wines”.
