Miguel Espejo Pla was born in Llíria (Valencia), where he started his studies with the teacher Francisco Alegre. After some years, he finished the clarinet studies, obtaining the highest qualifications and an honorary mention.
During his professional career he also obtained other prizes like, the Honorary Mention in the Spanish Musical Union competition, the second prize in the first edition of the International Competition in Dos Hermanas (Sevilla) and King Juan Carlos I granted him with the “Corbata de Alfonso X”.
When he finished his studies, he started as a soloist clarinet in the Symphonic Orchestra of Valencia. In 1985 he was clarinet soloist in the Municipal Band of Madrid and in 1986 he got soloist clarinet position in the Orquesta Sinfónica de Radio Televisión Española, where he continues nowadays.
He is also teaching some improvement and postgraduate courses around Spain as well as training courses in young orchestras in Madrid, Valencia, Murcia and Extremadura. One of the main parts of his professional career are their collaborations with international soloists as: Maurice André, Michel Camilo, Nicolas Chumachenco, Msistlav Rostropovich, Klaus Thuneman or Frederica von Stade.
It is also importat to say that Miguel has participated as soloist clarinet in the Orquesta de Cámara Andrés Segovia, the Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra and the Symphonic Orchestras in Castilla-León, Extremadura and the Opera of Madrid, among others.
Miguel Espejo has a wire experience in international festivals, like Estrasburgo, Varsovia and Perelada, and also in concerts with prestigious Symphonic Orchestras like the OSRTVE, Auvergne, Valencia, Madrid, Extremadura, Elche, Asturias, the opera of Madrid and the municipal band in Bilbao.
He has recorded a lot of compositions for VERSUS, RTVE-Musica and the classic radio of RNE. With Agustín Serrano at the piano they offer recitals with all his clarinet compositions. Miguel has played with different groups in the most important places of Spain, playing pieces of Brahms, Mozart, Schubert and Jean Françaix, among others, getting the best reviews of the specialized people and the audience
